I would have given this trip 4 stars but the train portion wasn't that great. The air conditioner in our rail car wasn't working and the ice water machine was broken, which made it extremely uncomfortable. The stateroom was very comfortable and roomy, and the staff members were great, courteous, and helpful.

While home to just 32,000, Fairbanks is the big city of the interior and cultural hub for the sparsely populated region.
